Internships and job attachments form an integral part of our Humanities experiential learning curriculum in HCIS. Internships to local organisations not only expand the knowledge and understanding of students, it also develops their practical life skills such as communication, interpersonal skills and cultivates good work ethics and responsibility. The invaluable experience and requisite skills that are gained and acquired through such internships will be put to good use by students in their future work and help expand their passion and horizon for the Humanities.

Central to the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is the development of international-mindedness in students. As an IB school, HCIS students who are IB learners strive to develop the following attributes of the IB Learner Profile through the internship programme:

Inquirers

By showing independence in learning,

Knowledgeable

By acquiring interdisciplinary learning,

Thinkers

By solving real-world issues critically and creatively,

Communicators

By expressing ideas and information confidently,

Principled

By taking responsibility for their own actions,

Open-Minded

By accepting and considering a range of differing opinions;

Risk-takers

By approaching uncertainty with a positive attitude by displaying the independence to explore new tasks and assignments; and

Reflective

By giving thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience.

The HCIS Student Internship Programme aims to provide students in the IB foundation aged 16 and above with an opportunity to engage in internships under the mentorship of industry experts for a period of 3 weeks in the month of January of each year.  As it is an enrichment programme, student interns will not receive any form of remuneration during the internship period.
