Hwa Chong International School Profile
Hwa Chong International School, a member of Hwa Chong family schools, started its operation in 2005.It offers a six-year through- train programme from Grade 7 to Grade 12. (12 - 18 years old).
Academic programmes and Pedagogy
In 2009, we will be offering International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The school programme will end with the International Baccalaureate Diploma after six years.
Problem - based Learning
We will be using Problem - based Learning as our pedagogy. PBL is a learning environment in which the problem drives the learning. A problem is posed so that the students determine they need to learn the new knowledge before they can solve the problem.
National Education
Students will be experiencing National Education by participating in flag-raising ceremony, pledge-taking, celebrations, ceremonies (i.e. Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day.) and other activities.
Faculty members—teaching staff
Our teachers comprise both locals and foreigners. All of them are professionals with at least a general degree as well as post- graduate degrees. They all have teaching experience, having taught in local or overseas schools.
Before joining the teaching profession, some of them have carved out a career in the business and finance sectors. Some have also worked in professions like counseling and engineering. Their diverse experiences and exposure have greatly enhanced our students’ learning.
