Academic Staff

EXPERIENCED INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE TEACHERS

Hwa Chong International School is looking for inspiring, passionate and committed teachers to explore a career with us.
Teachers may be required to teach various levels in the school’s six-year academic programme. Apart from teaching, teachers are expected to guide the students throughout the academic year in all areas of their holistic development. The incumbent will undertake planning and execution of various school activities throughout the year. As part of the school’s professional learning community, teachers are expected to contribute to teacher collaboration and resource development to value-add to the learning and development of students.

Chinese Teacher

Requirements:

  • A good degree from an established University in the Chinese language and/or literature
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in the subject areas
  • Candidate must have attended the Chinese Language Category 2 IBDP workshop
  • Must have experience in teaching IBDP Chinese Language and Literature and Chinese TOK
  • Supervision and marking of Extended Essay component of the IB Diploma
  • Self-motivated and passionate about educating students

Requirements:

Requirements:

Requirements:

Requirements:

  • At least a degree from an established University and possess teacher training qualifications, e.g. Post-graduate Diploma in Education
  • Background in Philosophy at university level is preferred
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in the IBDP TOK or equivalent in GCE ‘A’ level
  • Candidate should have attended TOK Category 2 IBDP Workshop
  • Have experience in supervision of Extended Essay

Relief Teacher (all subjects)

Requirements:

  • Minimum a degree from an established University in the subject(s) that you teach
  • At least 4 years of teaching experience in the subject areas

Non-Academic Staff

RESIDENCE MENTORS (RESIDENTIAL)

HCIS Residence is committed to promote holistic development of boarding students by creating a positive living and learning environment to enhance student development beyond the classroom. We provide quality programmes, services and facilities for students to grow and develop in various aspects of their lives to become inclusive and exemplary leaders, life-long inquirers and caring members of the community.

As members of the school community, Residence Mentors (Residential) work with the Head of Boarding and Boarding Manager closely to run daily operations. The roles of a Residence Mentor are:

  • As a disciplinarian to instill self-discipline and good time management of each boarder
  • As a caregiver to nurture the social-emotional development of each boarder
  • Create and maintain a supportive atmosphere for student learning and development within the boarding community
  • Assist boarders in transition, to learn life skills in resolving conflicts, as well as manage learning, character building, and independence. To guide boarders to develop a sense of community through supervision and participation in programmes and activities

Job Description

  • Develop a trusting relationship with boarders and attend to their needs and issues
  • Manage discipline of boarders including their safety and security 
  • Contact point with parents and teachers of boarders assigned
  • Develop and conduct boarding programmes and activities
  • Perform all administrative work related to the role
  • Perform Duty Mentor duties on Weekends, School Holidays and Public Holidays
  • Perform room checks and follow up on defects rectification
  • Bring boarders to ICA, embassy for appointment and unwell boarders to clinic
  • Assist reception duties, show-room tours, escort vendors, as and when assigned
  • Provide administrative, operational support or any other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Reporting Officer

Requirements:

  • Minimum diploma holder with min 1-2 years of relevant working experience. Those without experience may apply as training will be provided.
  • Possess appropriate dispositions such as empathy towards students and managing the demands of the job
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, especially in English and Mandarin, to handle queries and concerns from Mandarin-speaking associates with regards to the programmes and activities
  • Organised, meticulous, and able to multitask
  • Experience with boarding services and guiding youth will be a good fit for the role
  • Additional skill-sets like first-aid and mentoring students would be an added advantage
  • Residing within the Boarding residence is required and working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 3pm to 11pm and monthly weekend duties will be involved
