Our brand-new weekend activity series for boarders officially launched on 6 July 2025! This initiative is designed to help new residents build connections, settle into their new environment, and experience the rich and diverse culture of Singapore.
For our first outing, 18 students from China and Korea explored the sights and flavors of Chinatown. The day began with a meet-and-greet in the Residence canteen, where everyone introduced themselves by sharing their name, grade, and a fun fact. With icebreakers done, we were off!
In the spirit of local immersion, we took public transport from Tan Kah Kee MRT to our first stop: People’s Park Complex, a bustling hub in the heart of Chinatown. Students browsed the vibrant market stalls, picked up snacks, and soaked in the atmosphere before heading to the Great Buddha Temple.
At the Great Buddha Temple, our Buddhist students gave their prayers and offerings, while others were able to appreciate the peaceful surroundings and beautiful architecture, gaining a deeper understanding of a different culture and faith.
Next up – lunch. Time flies when you’re having fun! Our final destination was Chinatown Point and Hong Lim Food Complex. At Hong Lim Food Complex, students were able to enjoy Singapore’s hawker foods, such as prawn mee, laksa, duck rice, Hainanese chicken rice, etc.
Our first weekend adventure was a great success, and we’re excited to continue exploring Singapore with our boarders. Stay tuned for more cultural journeys ahead!
